Hi, my name is Jackie Gudgel Yasukochi. I’m a graphic designer and creative communicator who brings complex stories and ideas to life through thoughtful, emotionally driven visual design. My work spans print, packaging, web, and social media, allowing me to create cohesive brand experiences across platforms.

My background is a little unusual. In 2011 I earned a BFA in Costume Design from CalArts and worked as a costume designer and costumer on film, television and live theatre until 2022, when I made the decision to leave the industry and pursue a new creative path. After exploring roles in social media and digital marketing, I discovered I felt right at home as a graphic designer. 

My past experiences have molded me into a research-oriented designer with the ability to translate abstract ideas into concise visuals. They have shaped my eye for color, texture, historical references, and emerging visual trends. I believe great design has the power to create joy, foster belonging, and shape our cultural habitat. I’m happiest creating thoughtful, concept-driven work that connects with people, or at the very least, brings them joy.

If you are wondering what I do with my spare time; I’m probably working on one of many crochet or knit projects, hanging out with my cats, jogging along the Dockweiler Beach path, or going feral in a thrift store somewhere.
